Eligibility Criteria for Government of Ireland Scholarship
- Eligibility requires a first class or upper second-class bachelor’s degree or its equivalent.
- Provisional offers may be given if undergraduate results are pending.
- Applicants without qualifying bachelor’s degrees must hold a master’s degree.
- The Council’s decision on eligibility based on these criteria is final.
- Previous unsuccessful applications, including strategic partner themes, are limited to two.
- Only new entrants formally accepted to the relevant department can receive Council funding.
- Research master’s applicants shouldn’t currently hold a Council Postgraduate Scholarship.
- PhD applicants must not hold any Council Postgraduate Scholarship, except for research master’s.
- Two categories based on nationality and residency apply to applicants.
- Category I requires citizenship in an EEA member state or Switzerland and residency of 3 years.
